Berlin has an openly gay Mayor, who recently won re-election in a walk and who is considered one of the few stars of the German political scene. He drinks champagne out of women's pumps at parties, he's on the splash page of nytimes.com. I want Klaus Wowereit in this country, or at least for San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom to get some similar adulation.Viva la Deutschland!
